SEWER SYSTEM GUIDELINES AND IMPORTANT REMINDERS
Schedule an Inspection Before Any Work
If you plan to make any changes to your sewer connection, you must schedule an inspection with Authority personnel. Give 24‑hour notice. Inspections are available Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM – 2:30 PM. Call the Treatment Plant at the 814-694-2453 to schedule.
Viewport Burial Requires Approval
Do not bury a 6" viewport without prior Authority approval.
Per Sanitary Sewer System Rules and Regulations:
"Request to bury your 6" viewport must be made to the Authority.”
Buried viewports must be watertight, protected against vehicle damage, and marked with metal lids or steel bars to ensure they are locatable with a metal detector. Authority personnel must inspect, approve, and document the location before it is buried.
Property Transfers
If you are selling your property, please contact the sewage office with the name and address of the new owner. The closing agent or realtor does not always provide this information, so we appreciate your assistance in keeping our records accurate.
Contact Information
If you have any questions regarding your account, please contact the sewage office Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM at (814) 694-3409. In the event of an emergency, please contact the Treatment Plant directly at (814) 694-2453.
Do Not Flush These Non-Flushable Items
Please do not flush grease, sanitary wipes, feminine products, condoms, diapers, pills, disposable toilet brushes, disposable gloves, cotton swabs, dental floss, hair, kitty litter, or any similar garbage items into the sewer system. These items can cause pump failures, blockages, and very costly repairs that increase expenses for all customers.
- Many products are labeled “flushable” but are not safe for the sanitary system.
- Items containing cotton or fibrous material can permanently damage grinder pumps and cause significant issues at pump stations and the Treatment Plant.
What to Flush
Flush only human waste and toilet paper.
